Lent is coming quickly. Along with trying to remember all the recipes in my vegetarian/vegan repertoire, I’m getting ready to change gears in other parts of my life. I love to read, but my reading list is not always spiritually edifying (I’m talking about you, Outlander). This year, my husband and I decided to pick a few books to work through during Great Lent. We may read them together or separately, but our goal is to have all three of them read (at least by one of us) before Pascha.
Here are the three we chose:
- Blueprints For The Little Church : Creating an Orthodox Home
- A Faith Encouraged : A Devotional Guide to Being Orthodox on Purpose
- Parenting Toward the Kingdom : Orthodox Christian Principles of Child-Rearing
We have heard good things about all three, and I’m excited to dive into them.
My other personal reading goal during Lent is to keep up with the daily scripture readings as outlined by the Church. Some blessed and intelligent soul created a Daily Readings app, and this is how I will accomplish my goal. I might read them in the car, or in bed, but I will read them.
So, funny story. I wrote a book about Holy Week and Pascha, and if you haven’t read it yet, I hope you will. The Road to Golgotha is celebrating its first birthday in publication here soon, and in honor of that (and this whole theme of Lenten reading), I am having a giveaway.
The prize is one autographed copy of The Road to Golgotha, shipping included. You can enter by commenting on this post. Only comments on the post will be counted toward the giveaway (not on Facebook or Instagram), so please be sure that’s where you leave your thoughts. The giveaway will close on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 9 pm Alaska time. Happy commenting, and may the odds be ever in your favor!
**This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to Nancy and Hannah! (They were the only two entries, and I decided to give them each a copy)**
