(Amazon.com did not sponsor this post. I’m just a fan.)
Amazon.com is an amazing place. Living in Alaska is mostly a positive experience, but one of the negatives is paying for shipping. Boy, do I hate paying for shipping. Enter Amazon Prime (and cue angelic choirs). We are Prime members, which means that I don’t have to pay extra to get things from there to here. Consequently, if I can’t find it on Amazon, I usually assume I don’t really need it to begin with.
The other thing I love about Amazon is their wishlists. I have one for every member of my family. When I see something that I think they/I would love, I save it to the list. Birthday and Christmas shopping is sooooo much easier this way. It’s also a fun way for all those Aunts/Uncles/Grandparents to get a glimpse into what my kids’ current interests are.
I am also a voracious reader (and am raising more of them), so when I see awesome books, I save them on our wishlists. Then, when we make a trip to the library, I have a list (or two or three) of books that we look for.
Currently, we’ve got a few (okay, a lot) of fun things saved, so I thought I’d share some of them with you.
This super awesome frying pan. There’s space for bacon, eggs, a pancake, and potatoes, and it only uses one burner. Do I need it? Of course not. Is it awesome? You betcha.
Alaska, by James Michener. My father-in-law recommended this to me a long time ago, and it’s been on my reading list ever since.
Planet Earth II. We have the first season that the BBC produced a few years ago and it’s amazing. My kids love it as much as we do, and it makes for a fun family movie night to sit and watch an episode together.
Walkie Talkies. We’ve had some before, but they were geared toward kids and didn’t work too well. She’d like a set that actually has some range, and I wouldn’t mind getting them for her, because that means she can ride her bike around the neighborhood and I can still contact her (WITHOUT BUYING HER A CELL PHONE). That makes this mama happy.
Rock Kit. Megan is a budding geologist, and she’d love this set. It includes 75 mineral and rock specimens, complete with guide and magnifying glass.
Foxtrot: Jasotron 2012. We are big Foxtrot fans around here, and don’t have this volume yet. It might make its way into her Pascha basket this year.
The Land of Stories: Author’s Odyssey. Marina has recently devoured the Land of Stories series, and this is the fifth book. It doesn’t come out in paperback until June, so we are eagerly awaiting the release.
Flood Force Water Bow. This is a water gun, except it’s not a gun: it’s a bow. Pretty much the coolest thing ever for my adventure-loving, outdoorsy girl.
I Solemnly Swear I Am Up To No Good shirt. Harry Potter reference for the win.
Needlepoint Kit. I am an avid embroiderer, and Melanie has been working on her own little project alongside me. She’d enjoy this because of the bright rainbow colors and small size, perfect for little hands.
How To Draw Fairies and Mermaids. Enough said. (Except that it’s also an Usborne book, and I love the Usborne books).
Unicorn Necklaces. This is also a pack of 12, which would keep her busy for a long time, and allow for sharing with her friends.
Fold and Carry Fire Station Playset. Gregory saw this in a catalog around Christmas time and lost his mind. We threw it on the list to save for his next birthday.
Dinosaur Head Lamp. It’s a DINOSAUR HEADLAMP. Need I say more?
Wipe Clean Early Learning Activity Book. Gregory loves dry erase books, but is not quite old enough for the alphabet ones, so this is a perfect fit.
Disclaimer: Fr. John has no idea that he has an Amazon wishlist. It’s just where I store random things that remind me of him.
Monty Python Hoodie. It’s the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch. On a hoodie. Sold.
What It Means To Be A White Sox. Fr. John is a big Chicago sports fan, and the White Sox are his baseball team of choice.
Tabasco Chocolate. My husband loves chocolate, and he loves spicy foods. That being said, I’m not entirely sure how well they would mix. This has been on the wishlist for a couple of years, and I haven’t been brave enough to try it yet.
What are some of your favorite things on your wishlist?
